The Village Voice's Sixth Annual Choice Eats

Is it already time for Choice Eats? In just a few weeks, 50+ restaurants will be serving a plethora of food in the massive 69th Armory.

I was totally overwhelmed the first year I attended - and I didn't even eat about half of the offerings - and last year was no different.  This year's event is the sixth annual and is taking place on Tuesday, March 19, at 6:30 pm.

Among the many, many restaurants that will be at the event are some that I know and love - my perennial favorite Dirt Candy, who, as always, will be bringing something awesome; No. 7, where they make creative modern American food that spawned the outstanding No. 7 Sub and the seemingly-outlandish but delicious pizzeria Pete Zaaz (which will also be there), Del Posto, which will hopefully bring Brooks Headley's delicious apricot semifreddo as he did last year - and a few places that I have been meaning to check out, including 606 R&D, Brooklyn Kolache, and La Slowteria, which is not too far from our new apartment.

Add to that beer from a slew of breweries, including Blue Point, Sixpoint, and Bronx Brewery, and you have the making of a gluttonous and incredibly tasty evening.

VIP tickets are sold out, but there are still tickets left for general admission, which gives you three hours (6:30 pm - 9:30 pm) of reckless abandon aka food and drinks as far as the eye can see. Choice Eats sells out every year, so get your tickets now before they're all gone. And if you see me there, say hi!
